Evidence-based digital resources — videos, a serious game, and an online course — designed to support and upskill dementia care workers across Europe.
Why dementia care training matters — and who is being left behind.
Dementia is one of the fastest-growing global health challenges, with the number of people affected projected to reach 74.7 million by 2030. Current pharmaceutical treatments remain limited in effectiveness, placing a heavy responsibility on direct care workers.
These workers are often excluded from professional development opportunities due to language barriers (most evidence is published in English), limited time, low digital literacy, and inadequate vocational training within their working environments.
The iDO project addresses this gap by translating current evidence-based knowledge into accessible, multilingual digital training resources specifically designed for direct care workers in the dementia sector across six European countries.
Resources are available in English, Swedish, Italian, Portuguese, Greek, and Lithuanian.
Four open digital resources freely available to care workers and organisations across Europe.
A series of videos featuring people living with dementia and their family carers, sharing their needs and experiences in daily life and care — giving workers direct insight into patient perspectives.
Watch on YouTube →Interviews with neurologists, psychologists, nurses, and social workers covering key aspects of dementia care — designed to improve knowledge and day-to-day practice quality.
Watch on YouTube →An interactive game with adaptive difficulty and continuous ability tracking, enabling care workers to learn through doing — accessible directly in the browser with no installation needed.
Play the game →A Massive Open Online Course combining multimedia, interactive, and textual content — mobile-first and designed for varying levels of digital literacy.
